Exciting happenings to kick-start August!

August 8th, 2015 - Saturday

During the start of the year, I promised myself i would say "yes" to more things. Grab more opportunities that will add to my life experiences and just try out new things, especially things that are out of my comfort zone. So today, I tried ramp modeling in the middle of a mall filled with so many people together with 2 of my best-est friends.

We started the day early, I woke up at 5am, headed to Isa's house, got ready for 2 hours (we did our make-up ourselves, so it took some time haha) and by 9 am we took off for Glorietta in Makati. We stayed in line for about an hour and a half (thank God we thought of brining flats because if we wore heels throughout the whole thing we would've died) then registered by 12pm. We waited for about 15 minutes which by the way felt like forever because we were all so anxious and nervous.. Then it was our turn to ramp. It was definitely one of the craziest experiences of the year so far but I'm so glad I went through it with 2 people I am most comfortable with. Then we ate lunch and the rest of it was just a blur because we were all so drained but so hyper at the same time (shoutout to starbucks for making us hyper haha). Honestly, today was all about bonding with my best friends. Yeah, we see each other every day in school but hanging out outside of school is very different. We got to window-shop with each other and just do weird amazing things with each other. We stayed in the mall for 11 hours and i wouldn't chose to spend it with anybody else! Honestly, even though we all looked so haggard walking around with make-up on, even though we were all soooooo tired, i would re-live that day all over again if i could. Shoutout to 2 of the best people ever! Thank you for the amazing day we shared, from the exciting ramp experience to the fancy lunch and the pig-out session all throughout the day. Plus the window-shopping and going inside most of the clothing stores. And I will speak for everyone when I say that our favorite part was when we heard mass and prayed together. We are officially #FriendshipGoals i love you both!

-This photo was taken after our Mossimo-ramp experience!
Nadine (left) Isabella (middle) and then me hehe

-We ate lunch at Cafe Breton and trust me it's even yummier
than it looks

-Then we had Pink Berry for dessert

walked around a bit then when we got so tired we decided to get Merienda at Starbucks where we
got so crazy. We started laughing for no reason and everyone just kept staring at us probably thinking
we're crazy... I think it was the caffeine haha

- My favorite Sticky Cinnamon Bun that made me so hyper

After spending an hour and 30 minutes inside Starbucks, we finally decided to leave. There was a mass going on in the middle of the mall where there was a little chapel surrounded with grass, a pond and little rocks you can sit on. It was so gloomy outside and the wind was cold. It was the perfect weather and we enjoyed hearing the Gospel and the Homily of the priest.

-The view from where we were seated (if you look up)

Overall, it was just such a lovely day! Thank you to Isa's family for adopting me and Nadine for a whole day! And looking forward to more amazing adventures with you, girls! xoxo

Joella

Simple Everyday Makeup Essentials!

Us girls, especially during our teenage years get a little too conscious about our appearance. If our shirt matches our shorts, and if we're wearing the right shoes. What jewelry goes best with our outfit and what color of bag we should bring. But most importantly, we worry about our face. We worry about blemishes and the big dark bags under our eyes and if our eyebrows are groomed and the list just goes on and on. So, I am here to share with you the products I like to use on my face on a regular basis.

Oh and just a little disclaimer, by "regular basis" I don't mean everyday because i don't have the time nor the energy to wake up an hour earlier than 6am everyday just to put all of this on my face.. So by "regular basis" i mean when I go out on the weekends and I actually don't feel lazy to do all of these. (hahaha)

As a base, i use the Aveeno Positively Radiant daily moisturizer to keep my face moisturized throughout the day and also keep it protected from the sun.

Next, I put on a little bit of the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer under my eyes to cover my dark eye bags and to make my face look a little brighter.

And then i put on my favorite Benefit Hoola Bronzer to sculpt my face and give it definition.

I can go out of the house without any of these products except this one, this is my go-to product and i think it's always important to do your eyebrows especially when you feel lazy to do a full face of make-up because this just gives the impression that you actually put effort on your face. And i love how this step gives your face a certain glow and definition with this doing this alone.
I use the Anastasia Beverley Hills Dipbrow Pomade

To widen up my eyes a bit, I put on the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

To add a pop of color on my cheeks and lips i use my all time favorite and another go-to product Benefit's Bene-Tint lip and cheek tint. If you're looking for something that looks absolutely natural on your face this is the product to buy!!

I use this before i apply the Bene Tint on my lips to moisturize them.

So these are the products i use and if you guys are thinking about what to put on your Make-up starter kit these products are definitely so worth the buy!! Let me know in the comments which other products i should try!

I also did a youtube video/tutorial with these products ++ the Naked Basics Palette and more so you should definitely check out how i use and apply these products on my face! Here's the link to my youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJWmmz7VJq0 Feel free to check it out and tell me what you think!! :)

Lookbook: 2 of my favorite Summer Outfits!!

My best friend and I stayed in the burning sun at 2 in the afternoon just to take these photos! These 2 outfits are my favorite outfits, they're perfect for Summer especially perfect to wear on Festivals and Outdoor activities or parties!! But you can always mix and match and wear your outfit the way you want it.

Look 1:
Personally, I am in love with all things lace! And when I saw this top I thought it was just so simple, elegant and easy to work with. I think that since this top is white, any color of bottoms will do, but i decided to go a little subtle on the color scheme and went for black shorts. I think when you pair them together it looks very classy yet you can still wear it in parties and festivals during the summer. Plus you can pair this look with any kind of jewelry, whether it's just a small necklace like what i did or a big statement necklace, it would still look awesome.

Gold Arrow Necklace from Michael Kors

White off-shoulder top from Papaya
Black Shorts from H&M
White Chucks from Converse

Look 2:

This outfit is a little more fun and out there because of the colorful, tribal printed shorts. Pajama-like shorts are the new trend and there's no other perfect top to pair wild shorts then the ever-so-trusty black cami's. I think this look would also go well with a plain white or maroon top! Also, make sure to go crazy with accessories, layer necklaces, a lot of bangles and rings because that's the whole theme of this look: CRAZY!

Black Cami from Forever 21
Tribal print Pajama Shorts from Harmony

Hope you guys enjoyed this simple post and I hope I somehow helped you pick out the perfect outfits for the summer!

 With Love,
Joella

P.S: always remember to be the best version of yourself!

Beauty Inspirations and Motivational Talk!

People might not believe me, but when I was a kid I used to be boyish. I would put on my big brother's shirt and put on a cap and my brothers also used to teach me how to rap (lol). But I remember that as I grew older I would watch my sister get ready in the morning and just be amazed at how she would turn into this girl who looked like she spent hours and hours in the salon but in reality she just covered the bags under her eyes, made her cheeks a little pinker and made her eyes a little wider. I would go through her stuff after she left, and try to do what she just did but I always ended up looking like a clown with two very pink circles on my cheeks and black mascara (that's extremely hard to remove, btw) all over my eye lids. Then, beauty guru's on YouTube came along, and that's when my love for make up began.

Do you remember when you were a kid, and you would just follow whatever you'd see on tv? Whether it's people dancing or singing, you would always find yourself copying whatever they did. When I first saw one of Michelle Phan's makeup videos, I was stunned on how she was able to transform herself from a girl who looked so ordinary, to a girl who looked so similar to Sailor Moon. Then I watched another one of her videos, and another one, and the next thing I knew I already went through all of her videos. Then, i watched one of Amanda Steele (MakeupbyMandy24)'s videos, we're the same age and I was 13 at that time. I remember watching one of her videos where she said "My mom doesn't let me put on make up, because i'm only in Middle School so I only put on lipgloss" and I remember laughing because she made a whole video with only lipgloss and eye shadow and you would see it in her eyes and how she talked how much she wanted to put a whole face of makeup on. I watched her go from that girl, to a girl who slowly grew her makeup collection and now has a whole collection, and has sponsors give her makeup for free. And to think that we're the same age blows my mind because she has accomplished A LOT in 2 years. She gets to attend a bunch of events and conventions and she gets to travel the world, and it all started with a video about lipgloss. The same goes from Bethany Mota (macbarbie07), she used to just experiment with her mom's make up collection and look where it got her now! She has a very successful YouTube account, she travels the world and she has her own clothing line! See, when you're determined to reach for your dreams, you are destined for greatness.

Now, with all the inspiration from those 3 girls plus a whole bunch of beauty guru's, for the past 2 years, i have been slowly growing my makeup collection. I think that right now, I have enough to start off videos. I recently just created my own YouTube video, and last night I filmed my first ever Make Up Tutorial (and hopefully not the last). I don't expect to have a lot of subscribers or likes or views but I know that I just have to be patient because God planned nothing but good things for me. For 2 years i've had this fear of not succeeding, i've probably filmed 15 videos but i never had the courage to upload them because I was scared no one was going to watch it. But now, I learned that you shouldn't predict what would happen in the future, because only God knows what the future lies for all of us. And that you'll never know what the outcome will be unless you try it for yourself. If you fail, then at least you get a lesson out of it, and if you succeed, then continue dreaming. Nobody is stopping you from dreaming, you are the only person in the way of your own goals, you are the only person who gets to decide whether to make your dreams come true or not because who else will get you to do what you want to do aside from yourself, right? Always have believe in yourself first, before expecting others to believe in you. And if people say negative things about you, no matter who they are, as long as you believe in yourself, as long as you have friends who support you and as long as you have God by your side, what they have to say shouldn't matter at all. And as long as you're not getting in the way of other people, as long as you're not doing anything that will harm others and as long as you honor God in everything that you do, then I don't see anything wrong with you following your dreams! Always be the best version of yourself.

You got this! I believe in you! ;)

                                                                                                                    With love,
                                                                                   Joella

My Orlando and Niagara Adventures in photos!

A month ago, my family and I traveled to the States. We visited a lot of beautiful sites and hopped from one state to another. I've recently found love for photography and so i took some photos of the first few sites we visited using my brother's camera and i wanted to share some of the shots I took with you guys.

This is the first time i've been to the Universal Studios in Orlando so i  got a bit excited
when we were getting closer. I took this shot when we stopped at a stop light. It isn't
amusing but i like it.

The next few pictures you're going to see are photos I took inside the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, also known as the Diagon Alley.

This place is where they sell the famous "Butter Beer"! I tried it and it
was good! It's a mixture of kinda like soft drinks with a sweet buttery foam
on top. It sounds weird but it's really good!!

The next photos here are some photos I took of when we went on a 10 hour roadtrip to Niagara Falls. Just a disclaimer, the photos does not give justice to the actual view of the Falls and the trees and other things surrounding it. Everything there was absolutely breathtaking and i would totally recommend going there if ever you're visiting.

Here's a photo i took for my instagram feed

A panoramic photo i took using my phone

Sadly these are the only photos I got to take during our trip. But we still went to a lot of sites, stayed in LA a little longer.... and i'll blog all about our US trip when i have the time to.

So yeah, obviously i'm not a professional at taking photos but i enjoy it and I'm sure that with more practice and experience i'll get better and better and I promise that when I do, I'll make sure to post it here and update you guys on what's happening. I believe that when you set your mind to something you're passionate about, nothing can stop you from doing it! Thank you for taking the time to read this blog and 'till next time!

                                                                With love,

Adventure Awaits!

these are a few snaps from my first ever photoshoot. it was nothing official, i was just "modeling" my sister's product (the luggage cover). but nevertheless i was still so excited (mainly) because i knew my hair and make up was going to be done professionally. plus, it was a really great experience! i felt really really awkward at first, because i didn't really know how to pose so i literally just kept laughing (so thankful it looked decent on photos lol) but i got the hang of it after a while and got some serious shots.

i know how scary it is to try something out of your comfort zone. it's scary to think what other people might say about you. but at the end of the day, as long as you're not stepping on other people, as long as you're not offending other people and not doing something against your will then i don't see what's wrong with pursuing whatever it is you want to do. i think it's always important to do whatever makes you happy and follow your dreams!

stand out from the crowd and personalize your luggage covers. visit suitup.ph for more details!

hello!

my name is Joella Laurito, i am 15 years old and i live in the Philippines. I am currently in 10th grade, still trying to decide what I want, but in the mean time this is the one thing I am absolutely sure i about. I am very passionate about writing and at the same time i am also into fashion photography and make up. the reason behind my blog name (joella x misfit) is because i'm not very good at fitting in with the crowd, i like doing my own thing, i like following my own style and i think that's what makes me stand out from everybody else. this blog will be filled with my life experiences, my fashion or make up looks and anything interesting i can think of! i hope that you can explore the world with me and follow me in my journey. all comments and suggestions will be very much appreciated (but if you have nothing good to say just please don't comment anything at all) thank you so much and i hope you have fun reading my posts as much as i have fun writing them.

with love,
